  8.           This is a new release of Scanner Buff!  The Comments file has
  9.           been changed.  Now, individual files are written for the record's
  10.           comments.  You may edit them with any ASCII editor from DOS if
  11.           you would like.  Ignore the ì character; it will be inserted for
  12.           you... if you insist, its ASCII 141.  The comments were changed
  13.           for several reasons: 1) disk space is saved, 2) the old comment
  14.           file containing all comments was VERY sensitive and could cause a
  15.           crash and trash of your data file!  I received no reports of this
  16.           and only know that it can happen because I've tested the program I
  17.           wrote... I would hate for one of you to duplicate my errors!!!

  19.           Scanner Buff! is no longer released with SCAN.MDF and its index
  20.           files.  Rather, the files are created the first time you start
  21.           the program.  No data is contained in this file, however, data
  22.           may be imported from any Scanner Buff! data file created by
  23.           version 2.0 or above.  If using less than a v3.50 data file, you
  24.           must merge it into a v3.50 data file if you would like to read
  25.           the comments.  The text file will be created for you.  Extensions
  26.           are .CMT .

  28.           Data files created by the users of this program are encouraged.
  29.           In this manner many more people from any state can enjoy the
  30.           wealth of information available.  I will continue researching
  31.           data and releasing data files on various systems and counties in
  32.           the state of California.  Each time Scanner Buff! is released I
  33.           also release current data files on the same BBS, so they are
  34.           available.

  36.           Important to note is the fact that Scanner Buff! will be released
  37.           commercially very soon now.  You may reserve an advance copy by
  38.           registering your Shareware copy at the Shareware price. The
  39.           commercial price will be higher in order to pay the cost of
  40.           printing, etc.

  42.           Thank you for making Scanner Buff! the number one program of its
  43.           type ( not rated by me :-> ) !!!  I will continue striving to
  44.           produce only a quality program with as few errors as possible...
  45.           I spend a great deal of time on error-trapping, thus increasing
  46.           the size of the program, but protecting your data.

  49.           QUICK START INSTRUCTIONS:  Install all files in a sub-directory
  50.           and type:

  52.           SCAN35  or  SCAN35 [/C] [/M] for Color or Monochrome (see doc's)
  53.  
  54.           The program will start and SCAN.MDF will be created automatically.
  55.           If you would like to use a previous data file called SCAN.MDF either
  56.           import the data into the new data file (the other copy of SCAN.MDF
  57.           must reside in another directory, or it will be over-written) from the
  58.           search menu, or exit the program, erase the new file and its indices,
  59.           then copy the old files into the sub-directory.
